Immunisations

Children

Children are automatically called to the child clinic at the appropriate time. The recommended immunisations are:

Age Immunisation
2 months 1st “triple”, 1st Polio, 1st HIB and 1st Meningitis C
3 months 2nd “triple”, 2nd Polio, 2nd HIB and 2nd Meningitis C
4 months 3rd “triple”, 3rd Polio, 3rd HIB and 3rd Meningitis C
1 year MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
Pre-school Booster Diphtheria, Tetanus and Polio and MMR Booster

Any child under 15 who has not yet had the MMR is advised to have it. If you think your child has missed any immunisations check with the health visitor or nurse.

See Clinics for more information.

Adults

Adults are dealt with in practice nurse’s and doctors’ appointment surgeries.

We recommend that all adults have a tetanus booster every 10 years. If you have never had a tetanus injection it is important for you to have a course of three injections. Any woman who might be thinking of having children should consider having a blood test to check that she is protected against rubella (German measles). Ideally this should also be performed on women who have been vaccinated in childhood.

Anyone planning holidays abroad should check with us well before they are due to travel so that we can make sure that vaccinations are completed in time.
